Description

MKIV R32, EOS, Touareg, A3, and Audi TT Bushings Now Available!

Finally - Replacements for the problematic OEM VW intake manifold shift rod bushings – in most cases theres no need to buy a replacement shift rod!

These bushings are sold in sets of 2 to replace the 2 bushing rods - if you have the very early 99.5 model year with the even more pathetic 5 bushing rod, you need to buy a 2 bushing rod to use these.

The OEM bushings wear quickly and become the source of loud rattles you hear during acceleration and deceleration. The worn OEM bushings will quickly eat your plastic intake manifold, and cause expensive repairs.

gruvenparts.com Intake Manifold Bushings are thicker, made from more durable material, and most importantly, geometrically designed to maximize surface area contacting the intake manifold. Our bushings are made using CNC equipment with very tight tolerances as a matched set. The set up and programming times are extensive.

Please note, if your VR6 has been rattling excessively, you may need to replace the plastic intake manifold. The GruvenParts.com bushings should still be used in the new manifold to prevent this problem from occurring again.

    So far, so good...

I notice the noise of the bushings right before the timming chains kit was replaced, it wasn´t very loud and comes after 2000 rpm´s. Anyway, with the shifter rod bushigs guide that is in your page I replace it myself, no problems, the noise after 2000 rpm´s disapear. My 2001 VR6 is now 115,000 miles. I am satisfied with the product. Thanks a lot.

    Easy Install

Posted by jim on 10th Dec 2015

Installing shift rod with new bushings on shaft was pretty easy didn't have to file cut edge of bushings. Used deep socket to tap shift rod into manifold after 1st position bushing slid right in.No more noise. Motor has130000 n 1st set was way over due for rr,they cam apart as I pulled rof out. We'll see how long these last. Thanks Paul.

    Great quality

Posted by Andrew on 30th Nov 2015

I had a rattling sound coming from the intake manifold and when I installed these everything works and sounds smooth. They had to be forced in just a bit but I assume that is good, they won't move around. They feel very sturdy and I could see these never getting worn out.

    Rattle is gone

Posted by Unknown on 24th Nov 2015

With a minor revision the installed fine. I broke the edges with a fine file to allow the new bushings to enter the manifold easier and was able to push it in place. Nice tight fit. -- response -- Thanks for the review and note about installation. Good point about breaking the sharp edge on the OD, that will help with installation if needed. Take care Paul@GruvenParts.com

    good by intake noise.

Posted by Dave on 17th Nov 2015

If you are sick of hearing noise from your intake , go and buy This part for your car, the only thing I may suggest is replace the small rubber bushings on the end of the intake rod , could help with the play in it.

    couldn't be happier

Installed these in about 20 minutes in the drive way. And let me tell you, best 20 minutes and 50 bucks ever spent! Made the engine so quite under acceleration that I couldn't even believe it was the same motor. Worth every penny and wish I found these sooner!

VR6 Intake Manifold Bushing Fitment Issue

Posted by Dave Siebert on 3rd Aug 2015

After I received my bushings in the mail I went to install them and they didn't fit properly. I ended up having to shave them down slightly with 1000 grit sand paper so that they would fit and still had to use a bit of force getting the shift rod back in the manifold. Other than this being an issue the product is a great product but could use a better execution when producing it. Maybe a little extra time to test fit before sending out to the costumer. --Response-- Dave thanks for the honest feedback here. The intake manifolds themselves are injection molded and as such have a wide tolerance range. VW/Audi is not controlling the bore diameter very well, and this is why they are having issues with their bushings wearing quickly. We must precision machine our bushings to the highest end of the tolerance range, which in some cases causes the bushing fitment to be tight. However, the bushings MUST fit very tight into the manifold to prevent rattles. In some cases it requires some light buffing or sanding on our bushings to get in place, but thats better than a sloppy/loose fit, Since VW/Audi is molding these manifolds with such a sloppy tolerance, this is the best we can do. As always, call or email if you run into any questions or issues. Its always best to take off the high spots on the manifold rather than sanding the bushings. Sometimes the mani has a burr that can be removed to ease install. Take care, Paul@GruvenParts.com
