12V and 24V VR6 Intake Manifold Bushings

0.50 LBS

Product Description

MKIV R32, EOS, Touareg, A3, and Audi TT Bushings Now Available!

Finally - Replacements for the problematic OEM VW intake manifold shift rod bushings – in most cases theres no need to buy a replacement shift rod!

These bushings are sold in sets of 2 to replace the 2 bushing rods - if you have the very early 99.5 model year with the even more pathetic 5 bushing rod, you need to buy a 2 bushing rod to use these.

The OEM bushings wear quickly and become the source of loud rattles you hear during acceleration and deceleration. The worn OEM bushings will quickly eat your plastic intake manifold, and cause expensive repairs. Intake Manifold Bushings are thicker, made from more durable material, and most importantly, geometrically designed to maximize surface area contacting the intake manifold. Our bushings are made using CNC equipment with very tight tolerances as a matched set. The set up and programming times are extensive.

Please note, if your VR6 has been rattling excessively, you may need to replace the plastic intake manifold. The bushings should still be used in the new manifold to prevent this problem from occurring again.

  1. well crafted, and a stiff fit 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Jun 2020

Thicker, better shape to grab, and crafted well. It took a bit of finesse to get in by using some light taps on the shifter rod to get in my vr6. Well worth the purchase!

  2. tight fit 4 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Nov 2019

Took some lube and a socket over end of rod to pound it in. Hopefully the vac module can rotate the rod.

-- it has to be tight, thats what prevents rattles. The fit from the rod to the bushing should be plenty loose though, its just bushing to mani bore that must be very tight and where VW/Audi versions sh!t the bed.

  3. Much better than OEM 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Nov 2019

Rattle was so bad it could be heard inside the cabin through almost entire rev range, The quality of these bushings is much much better than OEM. The fit is VERY snug, like tap it in with a rubber mallet snug, and the rattle is completely gone. great product.

  4. changeover bushings 5 Star Review

Much better quality than the oem. Fit nice and snug. Worked great. Rattle gone.

  5. Great Product, Rattle Eliminated 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Jun 2018

When I removed the intake manifold shift rod the old bushings basically feel off. These bushings were nice and tight. Installing took a little work. So be careful on installation. I lubed up the new bushings and was able to work them in gradually. I then used a deep socket over the end of the rod and lightly tapped until it was fully seated. Job done, no more rattle.

  6. As advertised and shipped quickly. 4 Star Review

Easy to install and immediately fixed the issue. I would recommend these bushings to anyone.

  7. New bushings fit tight 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Feb 2018

When I removed the tube from the manifold the old bushings fell off. I checked the fit of the oem bushings and they had worn so much that did not support anything. The new bushings fit nicely and support the tube.

  8. Perfect fit & easy install 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Feb 2018

My intake shifter rod was making the dreaded rattling from 2500-4000 rpm. These bushings tightened it up perfectly. Well constructed and easy to install.

  9. Finally! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Dec 2017

The dreaded intake rod rattle. I installed a new intake rod, and the rattle went away. It only lasted a couple of months, and it was back. Thanks to this, I don't have to replace my intake manifold.

  10. VW VR6 - upper intake manifold rotating baffle - BUSHING replacement. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Aug 2017

Bushing arrived as described & promised.

I pulled the upper manifold before installing the new bushings. If you leave the upper manifold on, be sure to open the passenger side end-cap to the baffle FIRST and retain the small greenish bushing that is on the end of the baffle to avoid it falling into the lower intake manifold.

The Gruven bushings install on the baffle easily. (Do your best to clean away the tars and gunk on the baffle & inside the upper manifold where it rotates prior to installing.) Again, clean the baffle's journals and AVOID enlarging the inner radius of the Gruven part.

The upgraded (w/ Gruven part) baffle will initially NOT fit back in. The problem is the VW upper manifold, NOT with the Gruven part. The manifold has mold remnants present (just inside the driver's side end of the baffle tube) that need to be lighly sanded down with lightly wet EMORY CLOTH. (I taped the cloth to a dowel and hand sanding took ~ 5 minutes.) You also need to carefully & barely knock the leading edge (passenger sides only) off of the Gruven bushings with the emory cloth to facilitate the install.
