GruvenParts is proud to release METAL replacement gears for the 5th generation (2019+) Ram trucks power folding mirrors. Our metal gear is machined from 1 solid billet to include both the spur and worm gears machined into the main rotating shaft. We also provide these gears with new high strength Nylon stop rings which are usually needed when the OEM stop rings fail. These gears and stop rings carry GruvenParts LIFETIME WARRANTY !!
As many have come to find out, the OEM power fold mirror drive unit contains a plastic spur gear and stop ring which easily cracks, rendering the entire mirror useless. GruvenParts has solved this problem by creating an integral worm/spur main gear from solid, strong, UNBREAKBALE gear brass. We also provide a new Nylon stop ring which is much more durable than the brittle OEM stop ring to ensure the unit indexes to the proper outward position when commanded.
DONT pay for an expensive replacement OEM mirror assembly with more cheap plastic gears and rings in it, and don't settle for poorly made aftermarket mirrors that also contain plastic gears. You already know how that story ends ...

One billet gear / stop ring will fix one mirror, 2 gears would fix both mirrors (complete vehicle). Please note these gears and stop rings are side specific so order accordingly.
Applications :
This metal replacement gear will fit all 2019+ (5th generation) RAM trucks with standard power folding mirrors (like in the picture above). This includes Bighorn, Laramie, Limited, Lone Star, Rebel, Special Service, Sport, and Tradesmen (all trim options) with 3.0L, 3.6L, or 5.7L (all motors). Both mirrors didn’t work properly on my 2019 Ram. Dodge wanted a $1000 for new mirrors, they said no part replacement. Happen to come across a YouTube video that pointed us to this website. Purchased the parts and on the website was great instructions and video on how to replace the parts. $130 and now both mirrors work perfectly. Thanks.

Great product. The installation video link didn’t work for me. I ended up finding a video on YouTube. The installation pdf wasn’t bad but it was missing a few things that the video showed which was nice. It wasn’t that hard to run the wires. Splitting of the case was probably the hardest thing because I didn’t want to cut too deep. I had the mirror taken apart In 30 minutes. Casing was cut and glued back together in 15 mins. Used marine epoxy jb weld. 1 hr cure time. And went back together very quickly. I was nervous by the other reviews stating it was a weekend project and having a hard time running the wires. But it wasn’t that bad. Just have what you need beforehand. I’m happy I bought this

Patience and Persistence Pays

Robert's review (below) sums up the experience well. It is not a job that you want to do in a rush and it should not be considered a easy DIY project. Similar to Robert both mirrors on my truck were having problems. The driver side had failed and the passenger side is clicking and I expect it to fail soon. I took my time and was careful to photo document steps along the way. That made reassembly the easy part. I now have a beautiful working driver side mirror and I plan on doing the passenger side when it fails. I also ordered both sides. Here are some key takeaways from my experience on the driver side mirror. 1) Mirror removal. Pay careful attention to the instructional video linked in the install documentation on how to remove the mirror so that you do not break it. I added a strip of painter's tape across the top of the mirror casing so it would not accidentally be scratched. 2) Torx screws. The threads on the torx screws vary. The fine threaded screws are used in metal and the coarse threaded screws are for plastic. Do not use the wrong screw. 3) Photo document: Take pictures of the wiring and its path as you go so you will know how to run the wiring when putting the mirror back together again. 4) Metal and plastic clips. They are everywhere. Be very careful so you do not break or bend them out of shape. 5) For me the hardest part was separating the plastic housing that contains the motor, gear and stop ring. I decided against using my dremel tool to separate it because the cut it would take a large bite out of the plastic housing. I used a box cutter knife with several sharp blades and wore protective gloves (so I would not slip and cut myself), a lot of patience and came away with a perfect separation. This took an hour or so. I do not necessarily recommend doing the separation this way, but it worked well for me. 6) Glue weld. Do not overdo the amount of glue you use. Seal it up, but make sure when you clamp you wipe away any excess,

Fixed The Poor Factory Mirror on my 19 Ram

Parts were shipped quickly and the instructions on the website were very informative. I had no issues when following the detailed instructions and I also viewed a couple of YouTube videos, one from Gruven and another from an individual. Overall I am pleased with the parts, it took me around 6 hours in total from start to finish (this included 2~ hours set time for the epoxy). This saved me a lot of money, my only negative at all is the mirror still has a little play when extended ( 1/4"~~) I do not know if I did not install properly or if that is just the way it is. BUT my mirror parks and extends again and going down the road you never know it has a little slack when extended.

so I tired to use these for my tow mirrors which unfortunately no one has figured out yet how to dismantle the gear location and I was defeated in my attempt. So he's giving me a full refund and I'm sending him my old mirror to experiment on and make the parts for the 5th gen tow mirrors and promised to send me a set once he develops them should my new oem mirrors have the same issue again.

Passenger Mirror Actually Moves Again

I bought both sides when the driver side mirror started acting up and clicking and stalling like it was stripping. Then the passenger mirror plum stopped moving days later just out of the blue. I finally got the gears and replaced the passenger side over the weekend. Its not a job for the casual weekend warrior. These mirrors are a bitch to take apart and put back together not to mention, you have to exhibit heart surgeon Drexel tool skills to split open the cas. Fortunately I bud R/C planes and had all the tools including a nice Drexel plastic cut wheel which is invaluable. In any event, a couple hours after letting the epoxy o. The reassembled case set and my mirror works like new. Next weekend I will do the driver door. Its a fun project if you take your time in the end because the effort pays off. Id recommend it if you know your way around a shop but if not, might want to sub it out to a buddy who does. Just don't go to the dealer or you will get the same crap and charged out the posterior for it
