2019 Ram 1500 Folding Mirror Motor assy replacement

Removal of the mirror was the worst part of the disassembly process. The inside top tab broke when I tried to remove. Didn't preheat it enough before I tried to remove it. Other than that the process was a breeze. Took me about an hour. This upgrade is much better than the factory assy and retracts twice as fast as my other mirror. Worth the money.

Straight Forward Install of Complete Drive Unit

I installed a complete drive unit for my driver’s door mirror (2013 RAM 1500 Limited) today and am so pleased with the results (as compared to paying dealership’s outrageous prices). The website has both a PDF and an excellent video which I studied, in advance, and worked along with the video pacing me. First time I had done this so I found myself very cautious (measure twice/cut once) but the video was geared to a first timer. Buying the complete Drive Unit was a larger investment (($230 versus $69) but the cost was well worth it. Once the mirror was stripped down to the Drive Unit, install was simple (4 screws) and then reassembled the rest of the mirror components. One lesson learned: I actually took off the Tilt Motor Assembly (one screw) to facilitate re-installing the Assembly’s plug which is partially blocked (on driver’s side door only) by a piece of metal which is there to ensure the plug does not come out. In hindsight, I would have taken the assembly off while disassembling the mirror as well. Great product from Gruvenparts - so pleased I found them online.

Better than OEM

I bought 2 Gears/Motors Combo - Fix 2 Mirrors even though my 2018 RAM 1500 Sport has only damaged one of them (surely the other will suffer the same fate). These replacements are much better than the ones that come from the factory because those are made of plastic.... These are solid metal. Good price and good delivery service. Very pleased with my purchase!

I haven’t had a chance to install the motor and worm gear yet, but wanted to commend Gruvanparts for the quick response and excellent service provided when I had an issue with the original one I ordered from them. They sent out a replacement the same day I made them aware of the problem. Excellent service!!! I have no reason to believe the replacement part will not work fine.

Took a bit to get the mirror apart but I got it done and sure enough the factory plastic gear was broken. The new metal parts fit perfectly, and the mirror works great now.
