GruvenParts.com is pleased to announce this replacement strengthened BRASS spur gear for the folding mirrors on the 2009-2014 Ford F150 and 2007-2014 Ford Expedition with the non-towing power folding mirrors.  As many have discovered, the folding mirror assembly on these trucks suffers from a thin, weak, plastic spur gear mounted to the main drive shaft.  The plastic spur gear cracks at the slightest impact or just wears out over time causing an inoperable folding mirror.  Unfortunately, Ford will only sell you the complete folding mirror assembly, which is very expensive and time consuming to install.  And that time and $ would be wasted on another faulty mirror assembly with a weak, plastic spur gear that will also soon fail.

GruvenParts.com has addressed this issue by designing a strengthened spur gear made from solid gear BRASS with a thicker cross section to eliminate the stress concentrations which cause fatigue cracking. Our solid brass spur gear is intended to be installed on the OEM worm shaft using epoxy.  We have thoroughly tested our redesigned spur gear using an OEM mirror assembly and computerized test equipment.  Our test samples barely showed any wear whatsoever, and the testing did include random wacks against the mirror, jamming the mirror operation as it was folding, and manually stressing the mechanism all in an attempt to break the gear.  Each sample was tested approximately 5,000 open/close cycles.

This product carries a LIFETIME WARRANTY!  Provided you dont burn the vehicle, or otherwise smash the mirror into something, you can send back the motor drive unit to us and we'll replace the gear assembly free of charge.  You would be responsible for shipping under this warranty.

Product Options :

Today, you can buy the brass spur gear only.  At some point, we may also release new high torque motors and there will be product options listed in a drop down menu on this page.  1 gear is enough for 1 side, 2 gears would be enough for the complete vehicle (the gears are interchangeable side to side).

Applicability :

This product fits all 2009-2014 F150 and 2007-2014 Expedition with non-towing power fold mirrors and possibly other years/models as well.  The list of part numbers below is by NO MEANS all inclusive as Ford apparently made a new part number for every vehicle it sold during these years.  Its easier to go by the model year.  We will update this list as we get more data.  Please also note we are working on earlier and later model years for the F150, F250, F350, F450, F550, F650,  as well as for vehicles with the towing mirrors.  This info will all be added to the site soon !

  1. Better than stock plastic gear 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Nov 2019

This part is far superior to the plastic stock gear. If you have your mirrors off might as well replace them. Its a little labor intensive but worth it. I had my mirrors off to get painted so i changed them over.

  2. High quality product 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Nov 2017

I purchased the gears to fix a grinding noise inside my power fold mirrors and let me tell you that those gears were made from a very high quality brass and precisely machined to fit "just right" on the shaft . You won't be disappointed with your purchased, as a matter of fact, it might be the best 30$ you'll spend to fix a very expensive part on your truck
