Product Description

GruvenParts.com Intake Manifold Linkage Arms – Warranted for Life ! These links come in sets of 2 which is enough for 1 car.

Dont replace your linkage arms with full Delrin plastic arms - they will break, and they are the reason you are on this page in the first place!  Ours are made of high strength aircraft aluminum and use Delrin ONLY in the non-stressed socket region which is fully encased by aircraft aluminum to promote lubricity.  Delrin by itself cannot handle the high engine heat without an aluminum casing and is NOT INTENDED to be used for the highly stressed main body of the part.  Aircraft aluminum is many many times stronger and withstands much higher heat than Delrin.  Do this job once and be done with it as many thousands have, including Audi and VW dealers.

Got a 4.2L V8 Audi or VW ? Then you had better check your intake manifold actuator arms (p/n 077-198-327A, 077198327A)! These engines have a variable intake manifold which is opened by 2 plastic linkage arms. Unfortunately, the OEM linkage arms are molded from cheap plastic and quickly snap during normal use.

Broken intake arms result in a sluggish engine which stumbles and looses power and fuel economy. To make matters worse, VW and Audi will only sell you an entire repair kit (p/n 077-198-327A, 077198327A) for over $400. And, each repair kit they sell only contains 1 short or long linkage arm. So if you have broken 2 linkage arms, you are out $800!

Dont Forget About Our Billet 4.2 V8 Intake Manifold Pivot Levers, Too !

GruvenParts.com has solved this problem by designing custom billet aluminum intake manifold arms for maximum strength and unbeatable wear resistance. Our billet linkage arms are many times stronger than plastic arms and are guaranteed for life from a company that has been supporting this community since 2001 (not a fly by night unknown!)

Unlike VW/Audi, we sell these arms by themselves so you aren’t buying new actuators you don’t need in a $400-$800 repair kit. And unlike VW/Audi, GruvenParts.com WARRANTIES THESE PARTS FOREVER ! Which means you will never need to worry about them again.  Buy from a known company that has been supporting these cars since 2001.

Do what many VW and Audi dealers have already done – buy the GruvenParts.com Intake Manifold Linkages and forget about this problem once and for all!

These linkages come in sets of 2, which is enough for 1 vehicle. Installs in seconds, simply snap the end links onto the actuators and you’re done! These are specially sized for each vehicle; please choose your vehicle from the drop down menu below.

Fits the following vehicles and replaces linkage arms in P/N 077-198-327A, 077198327A :
2004-2007 VW Phaeton V8
2003+ VW Touareg V8
2002-2004 Audi A6/Avant V8
1998-2004 Audi A6/S6 Quattro V8
2000+ Audi A8/S8 Quattro V8

Note
If you are buying these for an Audi, you will need to measure your OEM linkage arms and select the correct length from the drop down menu. These cars got EITHER 1” or 2.25” arms so you need to specify. The dimension is an estimate, from center of the ball to center of the ball on the arm. Use the product picture on this page to visually determine if your car has the long (2.25”) or short (1”) arms.

  1. great product but could use a tweak or two 4 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Oct 2015

The link arms are great! my oem ones snapped as it seems they often do and gruven saved me an otherwise costly repair so all in all they are great a little hard to snap on the pivots maybe could be test fit first before sending to consumer I. Actually had to carve out about a 1/32" sliver of plastic grommet before it would snugly fit with the help of some channel locks but otherwise AWSOME and fast shipment too

Christian thanks for the review here, we have not had an issue like that. be advised that the pivot levers which these snap onto are cheaply molded plastic, if the ball on them has flash or imperfections then it can make it hard to snap the link onto it. The ball on the pivot lever can be cleaned up with a little bit of light sanding, then it should pop right on. FYI we do also sell the billet pivot levers, I believe Audi/VW requires your 1st born if you break their cheap plastic 1's so just be advised. Please call me directly if any issues, although sounds like you got it. Paul@GruvenParts.com 404-556-6663

  2. good replacement ..crazy price 4 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Oct 2015

product seems well made..took 2 minutes to install and are on securely ..the price for what they are is pretty nuts..and to top it off with an 8 dollar shipping charge as well?.. it came in an envelope... but i recommend the product ..and way better than a 400 dollar kit per side..

    -- response --

Thanks Steve for the honest review. The shipping is either USPS priority or 1st class depending on the location shipped to, but please note this DOES include full insurance so it was lost we would cover it. We have to factor that in. Regarding pricing you need to see how these are made to appreciate them, they are mill cut using a Haas CNC from solid plate, its actually a very intricate process. As you mentioned, these are NOT cheap plastic linkage arms, they will last forever and we guarantee that. You wont need to mess with this again. Thanks for the order and your feedback, we read everything thats posted and take all criticism to heart. Please call or email if you need anything further -- Paul@gruvenparts.com, 404-556-6663

  5. Affordable intake manifold linkage fix 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Aug 2015

my mechanic told me one of the intake manifold linkages on my 2006 Touareg V8 needed replacing and the VW OEM part would be $350+. I replaced both linkages with the Grvenparts items relatively easily and the parts were delivered quickly.

    -- Response --

Thanks Tony, please tell your mechanic about us. No sense in him selling his customers plastic failure prone parts for 10x what the billet lifetime set costs from GruvenParts !

  6. Just what I needed 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jul 2015

Intake linkage manifold arms for a 4.2 Audi A8. Theses were a life saver and they are made out of metal. Replaced the broken plastic ones. They fit perfect. Audi would only sell the whole unit and not the arms. Thanks!

  7. Simple robust solution 5 Star Review

This is and easy, Inexpensive fix to what shouldn't even be a problem. Audi screwed up on this one.

  8. Best deal ever 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jun 2015

If you have a personal mechanic and he can tell you what u need for ur Audi, don't go to the dealership for parts or to get your car fixed...it's highway robbery. The dealership wanted me to first spend $5500 on a new intake manifold, when all I needed was the linkage, which they wanted to charge me $900 for. Thanks to Gruvenparts.com, my Audi is up and running, without having to replace the intake manifold, and it cost me under $200.

Thanks gruven, I look forward to doing business with you again in the future when the need arises.

    Chandra

  9. Precisely what I needed at an affordable cost 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Jun 2015

The 1-inch linkage arms on my 2002 S6 Avant finally broke resulting in a significant loss of performance and mileage. Removing the broken plastic arms from the ball joints with long needle pliers was a bit unnerving but they came off without any collateral damage. Gruven's metal arms snapped on fairly easily with a little silicon lube and a pair of pliers. The car's power is now back and I presume the gas mileage too (once I drive enough to account for it). Great product at an affordable cost.

I considered upgrading the pivot levers too, but the plastic ones seem to be in good shape. If they fail, I know where to go... thanks, Gruven

If you have broken arms, you need this. Even if you didn't have a broken arms, it is great insurance for running those Audi/VW engine as it is designed to do.
